This project took us 2 separate sessions to complete.
On day one we mixed some multi-colored sparkles with purple paint and Hudson created freely on a small canvas.
Then needing time for the paint to dry we left the project for a couple of days (it didn't take a couple of days to dry, there was just a scheduled day off school in between :))
Picking up this art work again I added some new materials for Hudson to use.
I punched out several different shapes from some coordinating scrapbook papers.
And set Hudson loose with Modge Podge.
I added a large wired ribbon (stuck with hot glue) to hang the masterpiece,
Look he even signed an H in the bottom left corner. This is headed into the mail soon for a very special Great Grandma's birthday present :)

The bow and the signature made all the difference! Art lesson in jammies, looks like a special moment. You aren't just creating art and birthday presents, you're creating memories.
That turned out really cool! I am sure the gift will be treasured.
Wow - this is certainly a very special present. Hudson did awesome on it and thanks for sharing your approach.
That is really nice. I have some extra canvases around, I should do something similar for our Grandma! Thanks for the awesome idea!
