Vancouver Vacation

Vancouver vacation  field trip 2013 was a huge success...
Day 1 we spent at Grandville Island... There are some really amazing free (other than the parking) educational experiences there...
Our favorite was the silk shop:
We watched a lady weaving silk... and she was happy to explain what she was doing... then she told us that in another section of the store there are silk worms in various stages of life...

In here are silk cocoons...
and here are the worms eating mulberry leaves!

Day 2 was crazy busy...Our first stop was the Vancouver Aquarium... I highly recommend getting there early on a week day... we had a superb parking spot.
Right next to the tree frog car...
Jack the porpoise is absolutely adorable!  He is a playful little show off...

It took a bit of searching...
but we eventually found Nemo and a few of his pals...

There was a fantastic 4D movie about the salmon run... which has inspired a lapbook that I will probably blog about later this fall.

After a nap in the hotel and some super spicy food... we made our way to the big shiny ball that is Science World.

There are so many hands on activities here... which as a ton of fun for all of the kids...but made a certain 2 year old very very happy...
Meadow using air to move the ball through the hoop...

By far the the scariest thing for this mama was the aging computer... Here are my babies with 50 year old faces!

And now we are home again... exhausted and happy to sleep in our own beds... with oh so many special memories.
