This is a super cool (pun intended) project that Hudson and I did. I got the idea from a book at the library called The Kid's Winter Cottage Book.
Materials:
A mold (we used a smallish plastic bowl)
Modeling clay
Water
Decorations (cranberries, orange slices, pine branches, sparkles...etc)
Step 1:
Work your modelling clay into a ball and stick it really well to the bottom of your mold.
Step 2:
Add the decorations. (We used just cranberries and sparkles)
Step 3:
Fill with water almost to the top.
Step 4: Freeze (we put ours outside as we live in the north)
Step 5:
Pop the ice out of the mold (ours came out easily but if you are having trouble run a little hot water over it).
Insert a candle into the space the modeling clay left. Light and enjoy.
Be sure to put your ice candle holder in a dish with sides or you will have a watery mess :)

This is such a neat project! You should link it to Science Sunday at Adventures in Mommydom. We'll definitely do it - probably after Christmas, since our schedule is already so full.
Very cool project! It was nice of Superman to take some time out of his busy schedule to help you. :-)
I'll echo Natalie on linking it up to Science Sunday. I'll have to see if I can find space in my freezer, that would be the big problem here....... How long did it take to melt?
Oh, and we have the same pajamas at our house.
okay that ice mold is just cool!! (literally! ha!)
What a fun idea... yes how long did it take to freeze? and like Ticia said above.. how long did it take to melt?
That is really clever! Love it!
